Kahlua Chip Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 8 Large Egg Yolks
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Quart Half And Half
  • 1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
  • 3/4 Cup Brewed Double Strength Espresso
  • 1/2 Cup Kahlua
  • 8oz Semisweet Chocolate

Preparation

  • Allow Espresso To Cool
  • Chop Chocolate

Directions

  • Place a large mixing bowl in the freezer.
  • In a separate large bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar.
  • In a saucepan bring half and half to a boil.
  • Gradually pour egg mixture into half and half.
  • whisk until sugar dissolves.
  • Let stand 5 minutes and then chill.
  • Stir vanilla, cold espresso, and Kahlua into chilled custard.
  • Pass through a fine strainer.
  • Pour into an ice cream maker and processes according to manufacturer's instructions.
  • When ice cream is nearly done, melt chocolate over simmering water.
  • Transfer frozen ice cream into the chilled bowl from the freezer.
  • Pour in melted chocolate.
  • stir and mix vigorously with a wooden spoon.
  • Transfer to a container and freeze until firm.
  • Serve frozen.
