Ingredients
- 8 Large Egg Yolks
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1 Quart Half And Half
- 1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
- 3/4 Cup Brewed Double Strength Espresso
- 1/2 Cup Kahlua
- 8oz Semisweet Chocolate
Preparation
- Allow Espresso To Cool
- Chop Chocolate
Directions
- Place a large mixing bowl in the freezer.
- In a separate large bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar.
- In a saucepan bring half and half to a boil.
- Gradually pour egg mixture into half and half.
- whisk until sugar dissolves.
- Let stand 5 minutes and then chill.
- Stir vanilla, cold espresso, and Kahlua into chilled custard.
- Pass through a fine strainer.
- Pour into an ice cream maker and processes according to manufacturer's instructions.
- When ice cream is nearly done, melt chocolate over simmering water.
- Transfer frozen ice cream into the chilled bowl from the freezer.
- Pour in melted chocolate.
- stir and mix vigorously with a wooden spoon.
- Transfer to a container and freeze until firm.
- Serve frozen.
